My photography has always been, for the most part, about recording and preserving precious moments of life. Those instances where, for a fraction of a second, the universe seems somehow magical. For me, walking the Camino in August and September 2022 was a profound experience, rich with wonderful moments. More than ever I was acutely aware of living in the ‘now’ and on many occasions of feeling an almost instant nostalgia for the moments I was photographing, as they were frozen in time by my camera’s shutter. Gone forever but preserved in a photograph. It was a six-week, 900 kilometre roller coaster of a walk from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in the French Pyrenees to Fisterra on the Atlantic coast of Spain, via Pamplona, Burgos, Leon, Sarria, Santiago de Compostella and many small Spanish villages. It emptied me out some days, and filled me up with joy on others. There are so many moments I will forever cherish. This book is a collection of some of those precious moments, and some of the wonderful people I shared it with. It’s my Camino, as seen through the lens of my camera.
